I saw this car down the street tonight. What you might not know is that there is a funny story behind this number plate. Before it was on a Citroën Saxo it belonged to an armchair saxophonist in the London area, who sold it when looking for work meant too much getting out of the armchair. His name was Roland Axe. He had it as a vanity number plate on a Morris Minor. Roland was a jazz man, he would have liked to belong to a big band, Roland never did get any gigs but he wrote the car off shortly after he sold N23 SAX by crashing it into a car whose number plate also began with the number 23. That was when Roland Axe realised that the number 23 was a very auspicious number for him... (continued on page 223)
